7 Things Sunday

One. YOU GUYS!! I PLAYED WITH LAMBS TODAY!!  Rachel’s friend Ben was gracious enough to endure our company (and millions of questions) as we visited his flocks and filled the role of lactation nurses. A couple of female lambs were born at 5 AM this morning, so we named them Taylor and Rachel (and were promised they would be kept for breeding). I can’t believe how quickly they’re up and walking around after being born!  Putting human babies to shame. Oh, my heart is so full. Here we are being proud mums.

Seriously. I can’t handle it. STAY THIS SIZE FOREVER. IMG_2960

Two. Semester dos is officially over. Aaaayyyoooohh! Friday afternoon we handed in our last assignment. Phew. The next night we put on something other than sweatpants and celebrated all of our hard work (and Katie’s 25th birthday!) by seeing The Woman in Black at King’s Hall and getting our drink and dance on. I can’t believe how quickly this year is going by. I am excited to be entering the last phase of graduate school, but that also means saying goodbye to a lot of friends who depart for their homelands in the next couple of weeks. It won’t be the same here without them!

Three. These three cuties showed up in town this week. We walked what felt like 100 miles a day, hiked giant volcanic rocks, danced, ate mediocre British food, strolled through gardens, learned about urban bees, ate amazing Indian food, watched Blade Runner in the cinema, attempted acro yoga, played a lot of card games, saw some wild ponies, got lost in a maze of mirrors, and explored some of Edinburgh’s finest galleries and museums. But mostly I just enjoyed massive dose of reminiscing, sarcasm and late night giggling.

Four. There was a TED x event on campus this week. The theme was Flourishing People, Spaces, and Places with talks like ‘Flourishing in Urban Poverty’, ‘Flourishing in Dementia’, ‘Flourishing through Poetry’, etc.

Five. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my bff Andrew– probably the only person I have a relationship with that has not been affected by distance even a tiny bit. You see, fortunately, the time difference works to our benefit (meaning I’m now guaranteed to be awake between the hours of 1 and 4 am PST). The first movie we saw together was Ladder 49 and the last was Boyhood. The first show we went to was The Spill Canvas and the last was Josh Groban. So, we’ve been through a lot together. He is the greatest hype man, comedian, secret-keeper, cheerleader, over-analyser, day-maker, and party companion. I can count on him for everything except to be on time for anything. Love you, boo.

Six. I more or less hated Into the Woods, so I was kind of hesitant to see Cinderella last week but it.was. everything. I cried. I gasped. I felt like a kid again. It also brought up very fond memories of watching this gem a whole lot…

Seven. Things I miss: Target, driving, thunderstorms, my paints, and sleeping on a mattress thicker than 5 inches.

  1. You with lambs gave me a much needed smile. Seriously, so adorable (the lambs are cute too).

    “Blade Runner.” Very cool. Impressed.

    Ditto “Into the Woods.” Overrated.

Things I miss: your hugs and your giggles. Looking forward to a generous dose of both in six weeks!
